Koh Samet Island
Just a short ferry trip from Ban Phe ferry pier, Ko Samet is a favorite weekend beach getaway for
expats and locals alike. However, most tourists head further south. The island is protected as part
of Khao Laem Ya – Mu Ko Samet National Park, making it clean and relatively unspoiled. The ferry
runs from 08:30 until 16:30, perfect for a day trip or stop over for a night at one of the resorts. Ask
our staff and they will be happy to help you.
Mae Rampheung Beach
Just a short walk from Linda’s Place, Mae Rampheung Beach is never crowded. Jog, stroll, fish or
swim the street vendors patrolling the road that runs the length of the beach will keep you stocked
with food and drink.
Khao Laem Ya National Park
A beautiful day out with plenty of photo opportunities. Stunning landscape and lots of wildlife,
monkeys, lizards and birds of all shapes and sizes.
Khao Chamao - Khao Wong National Park
Named after the two mountains, the park covers 84km
2
. It is a popular destination for it’s waterfalls,
viewpoints, caves, limestone mountains, cliffs and hiking trails. The mountains reach about 1,000m
above sea level and are an important refuge for wildlife. Those visitors who take the time to trek deep
into the reserve may come across animals such as elephant, gaur, serow, bear, leopard, leopard cat,
pileated gibbon, banded langur and wild boar. And birds such as Siamese fireback, wreathed hornbill,
great hornbill, lineated barbet and Indian roller.
Khao Chamao Waterfall Nam Dtok Chamao
The waterfall is 8-tiered, but only first 7 tiers are accessible to the public by a 1.7 km
easy to moderate trail.
The waterfall has enough water all year round, but with much less water and is crystal
clear during the dry season. It is possible to swim in some of the ponds but
the water stream can be quite strong during the rainy days in rainy season.
Rayong Aquarium & Animal Husbandry Station - Ban Phe
A scientific research centre run by the government’s department of fisheries. This is an
extremely well run aquarium full of interesting tanks and glass tunnels that will fascinate
young and old alike. All exhibits are written up in Thai, Latin and English.
Chao Pho Tho Kong Shrine - Ban Phe
Walk around the Thai Chinese Buddhist shrine and statues, then sit and take
in the fantastic view.
Roi Sao Market - Ban Phe
Local produce of every kind along with clothes and trinkets. Specializing in dried seafood
and fruit snacks, you will see Thais from near are far coming to load up their cars. In the
evening you will find all kinds of street food and drinks to experience.
Tamnanpar ‘Forest Restaurant’ - Ban Phe
Top quality food in a totally unique environment. The finest Thai food set amongst towering
trees and winding creeks. The restaurant has live music and claims to have the most
beautiful toilets in the world. A claim I would not dispute.
Bee Bee Restaurant - Ban Phe
A two minute walk from Linda’s place. This fantastically friendly restaurant offers
authentic Thai food along with Thai European fusion. Bee Bee’s English speaking Thai
owner never disappoints. You’ll find it hard to stay away.
